The Thrift Tiered Tray

Most of you know I love to thrift. I have been on the hunt for a particular item. That idem would be a tiered platter tray, or a cake tray. 

I'm going to host some summer parties and I need some sweet food trays. Well, My hunt hasn't been successful at my local thirft store. When all else fails, make it right? This is what I came up with. . .

 $4.50 and an ample amount of Gorilla Glue Super Glue.... that turned into this. . .

My 3-tiered platter! Not only can you stack all three, but

You can just stack the two for a cake stand, or

Stack the base and the bowl for some chips and dip, or. . .

Separate them all and create 3 different trays!

I think they turned out quite lovely and completely encase my personality!

 I am such a fan of amber glass and I love how all these components came together! 

It would be lovely with all glass plates, mix and match to see what you come up with!

WHoooooooooooo Smells.....

My Owl does. She stinks as a matter of fact.

When I say Stink, I truly mean wonderful. Meet the Owl sachet. She is stuffed with yummy vanilla smells!

Even my puppy Grace thinks she smells sweet.

That is, until she felt her snoozing spot had been invaded by the owl.

So she nudged her off the couch. She's a sweet heart.

This was a fun little inventive idea. I have a lavender sachet in my pantie drawer. I saw it this morning and thought how darn funny it would be to have an owl hanging out in there.

She was easy to whip up and took me about 30 minutes!

You too can have a little owl hang out in your pantie drawer, or you know anywhere you would like to have a sweet smelling owl hang out. :)

After I was done stitching them all up, my husband promptly said

"Oh! Those are so cool hun, they look like the birds from Angry Birds"

So there you have it.

I on the other hand think they are quite fantastic.

Whooooo Says You Can't Have Cute Grocery Totes?

This was a feat for me! I'm actually really proud of this bag. It has been the best piece of sewn something I've made. Yay for overcoming a hurtle! I saw this fabric in our local fabric store and fell in love with it! Whoooo cares if its kind of boy-ish; Dana over at MADE is celebrating the boy month! Whooot for boys! I will be creating multiples of this bag!

Boxy Zipper Pouch!

I've sewn my first project! Well, I have sewn a couple of silly potato sack bags for some gifts I made family, but they were meant to be funky. I have taken sewing as a challenge and I think I'm getting the hang of it. This is what I created.

It is a fun boxy zipper pouch!

The purple flower one was the first one I made! I made two more for some St. Patrick's day gifts I was giving. {Hence the green inside and zipper} 

I've been inspired by a bunch of other bloggers out there to be more craft and creative. It has done wonders on my soul!

St. Valentine Who?

Please don't mind my Mad-Crazy Hair. My projects tested my Mental State. :)

Valentines Day, personally, I really don't care much for it. I'm not sure where my lack of fondness for this heart felt holiday comes from, but I just don't. I don't distain it in anyway, I just don't see the big deal in it all.

Though, I do have some pink crystal out, a teady bear that has devil horns and a heart cape and a pink colored sensy wax melting in my melter. I did get into the spirit of Valentines Day a tinsy bit. I made gifts for those girlies in my life that I just love, since it is the month of hearts, love and foo foo frilly things.

Here is my list of things I {Heart}

-I {Heart} Microsoft Excel.

-I {Heart} Crafts.

-I {Heart} My Morning Coffee.

-I {Heart} Blogging.

-I {Heart} Cooking/Baking.

-I {Heart} Summer Time.

-I {Heart} Lists.

-I {Heart} Carbohydrates.

-I {Heart} Tape.

-Mostly I {Heart} My Family.

As I said in the spirit of the St. Valentine these are the little tid bits I made for those girlies that I love. Something must have gone hay-wire in my brain; because I used my sewing machine. {Insert Shock and Awe Face Here} It was fun though, and I think I'll be practicing a bit more on it.

I did some things different like I put epoxy on the front and wrote on a couple.

These are Heart shaped hot pads. Again I' love to take the credit, but Martha, she's just a craft chic.

These hand towels were quite fun. I'm sure someone has thought of sewing ric rac onto hand towels, so I'm not the first.

My all in all total cost into the 3 hand towels, 4 pot holders, 10 hearts, Paper, Ric Rac and BIas tape is: $12. I had some stuff on hand like the epoxy, magnets, glue and such. Pretty nifty eh? That is my contribution to Valentines Day this year.

**For March, well you will just have to see if you are going to be a lucky one and see what I've got planned. (I've made a goal for each Holiday, wink wink.) Keep checking back over the next 16 days. March 1, I've got a surprise for you all.**

Recycling Materials

When it comes to crafts, I have a hard time throwing away "scraps". I'm a hoarder of craft scraps ok? Since I hoard craft scraps -Say that 3 times fast- I was able to recycle and create a fun wreath. I was inspired by other crafters and was able to create this beaut of a wreath. It is an easy DIY, trust me. I was able to use some left over felt from some previous wreaths and a foam ring that had been lazily lying about.

Here is what you would need:
-Yarn of any color (you will use less than half a skein)
-Felt
-Buttons
-Ribbon
-12" foam ring
-Hot glue gun

Steps:
-Wrap the foam ring with yarn until its completely covered. Tie ends together when done.
-Cut circles out of the felt. Any size and color works great! Pinch the center of the circle together; this should make it bunch up. Depending on how big/small you want your flower, you will gather more felt at the base. In the center of the flower ooze a bit of glue to keep it together and garnish it with a button.
-You can make as many flowers as you please and put them wherever. :)



-Wrap the ribbon once around the now wreath and measure until your desired length; cut and glue. Cut another small piece (this will be your loop) Make a small loop and glue it to the top of the cut ribbon and add a button/flower to garnish.



See simple! This was my in between craft for all my other crafts that I'm doing. Yes I have not forgotten to blog and take pictures of them. They are all in the workings and should be done by this weekend.
