It is a fun boxy zipper pouch!
The purple flower one was the first one I made! I made two more for some St. Patrick's day gifts I was giving. {Hence the green inside and zipper}
I've been inspired by a bunch of other bloggers out there to be more craft and creative. It has done wonders on my soul!
How to make the Boxy Zipper Pouch!
You will need:
-4 pieces of 8'X6' fabric
-7' zipper
-Zipper foot {For your sewing Machine}
You don't have to have 4 pieces of fabric, but if you want a contrasting color on the inside, I would. I learned how to sew on my zippers from Dana-Made-It's tutorial. Find it here! I love her fun candy bags!
Use a zipper foot, its missing the side pullers and just has one in the center. Make sure your presser foot isn't over the zipper.
This is what it will look like when you've sewn on the one side. Now do the same to the other side.
Line the zipper along the top, just like you did with the first side. Pin and sew. It should look like this when you are done...
Pin the ends together, so your pouch inside out and sew together
{If you want your pouch to look like THIS, sew the sides and turn right side out.
To Make the boxy pouch, pin the sides together, but make sure you align the seam on the bottom with the zipper.
Pinch out the corners, so that the sides are flat. This is going to determine the height and width of your pouch. See how it makes a triangle? The bigger that is, the taller and thinner your pouch will be; the smaller the triangle, the fatter and shorter it will be. Pin and sew along marked lines.
This is what it should look like all puffed out. I don't own a surger, so I did a zigzag stitch. You are going to cut off the extra fabric that create the triangle on the corners. If you don't have a serger, you can do a zigzag cut as well. Turn right side out and vuala! You have your very own boxy zipper pouch!
It can hold anything you want. I chose to use mine to house all my crochet needles. They mean the world to me and they needed a safe place.
Until Next Time,
Peace & Love
Cute! You did a great job Ashley!
