The Thrift Tiered Tray

Most of you know I love to thrift. I have been on the hunt for a particular item. That idem would be a tiered platter tray, or a cake tray.
I'm going to host some summer parties and I need some sweet food trays. Well, My hunt hasn't been successful at my local thirft store. When all else fails, make it right? This is what I came up with. . .
$4.50 and an ample amount of Gorilla Glue Super Glue.... that turned into this. . .
My 3-tiered platter! Not only can you stack all three, but
You can just stack the two for a cake stand, or
Stack the base and the bowl for some chips and dip, or. . .
Separate them all and create 3 different trays!

I think they turned out quite lovely and completely encase my personality!
I am such a fan of amber glass and I love how all these components came together!
It would be lovely with all glass plates, mix and match to see what you come up with!
Check out how to make your very own in the Tutorial section, or click on the picture below!

It Must Be In Them Genes.

I am my Mother's Daughter
My Sister's little Sister
My Grandma's Granddaughter
My Neice's Auntie
My Auntie's Daughter
My Aunts' Neice
My Cousin's Cousin
My Great Grandma's Great Granddaughter
My Girl Friends' Friend
My Sisters In Christ's Sister
My Puppy's Mom
My In-Law's In Law

The common factor for all of those is this:
I am a women.

This month is National Women's History Month. I would like to put some strong women in my life in the spotlight. They are women that have talents you couldn't believe!

First and foremost is my Momma.

{Left: My Grandma, Right: My Momma}
She is superwomen. She raised her 3 children as a single Mom and still fixed the washing machine when it was broken, fixed the toilet when it wouldn't flush, painted the house numerous times, went to her son's T-ball and baseball games, went to her daughter's cello reticles, shopped with her eldest all while teaching us to chew with our mouths closed and to pronounce our "T's". Amongst other things she is a crafty lady. She owns 3 Etsy shops that are very diverse and unique. Check out her Steam Punk jewelry at Steam Trunk Studios She also has a Uniquely elegant line of jewelry at Lilikoi Designer after making all of that she has a whole sale site where she sales components as well at Hip Chickee Beads. I would not, could not, survive if it weren't for my Momma's heart. It does so many more things than just pump blood.

My Sister is one of a kind.
{Left: My Sister, Right: My Niece}
She is a phenomenal Mother to her children. While she cleans her home 19 times a day, does laundry for five, works at home full time, co-partners in 2 Etsy shops, takes care of her three children 4 years old and younger, Bakes cookies, still has time to go to the gym and make home made Chinese food for dinner. My sister has that "craft gene" in her as well. She is a superb master of the sewing machine and sells her wonders on Etsy. Her Designer quilts and chic way to make everyday items adorable are crafted and sold in Love Me Ragged. Crafty in a whole other spectrum are her one of a kind wood letters and assortments on JC's Blooming Boutique
I couldn't imagine not having my big sister to dance in the kitchen with and to cry with.

These two women are in my life almost daily and are in my thoughts and prayers always. I have so many women in my life that are incredible and bless those who surround them. You know who you are. My Mom has always taught me to Remember Who I Am and What I Stand For.
So, cheers to all the Women out there! Lets take a bit and remember how far we have come, where we are and where we are going. Remember all the women in your life that make an impact, remember the women in your life who have died and were a blessing, Remember all the little girls we are teaching to be women; so they may grow up and remember who they are and what they stand for.

Until Next Time,
Peace & Love

Boxy Zipper Pouch!

I've sewn my first project! Well, I have sewn a couple of silly potato sack bags for some gifts I made family, but they were meant to be funky. I have taken sewing as a challenge and I think I'm getting the hang of it. This is what I created.

It is a fun boxy zipper pouch!

The purple flower one was the first one I made! I made two more for some St. Patrick's day gifts I was giving. {Hence the green inside and zipper}
I've been inspired by a bunch of other bloggers out there to be more craft and creative. It has done wonders on my soul!

Find the instructions to make this Boxy Zipper Pouch Here, or check out the Tutorial section Here

Valentines Day

I used our wedding center pieces and embellished them with paper letters.

I used the wine glasses Drayton bought us for our first Valentines. As well as the bear in the back ground.

While making dinner I discovered one of my onions has decided to grow. I'm now experimenting to see how big it will grow. Ha :)

Drayton made me ACH Yellow Tail Tuna, Asparagus, Mushrooms and Onions with Red potatoes sprinkled with parsley. Yummmm!

I made chocolate covered strawberries, but the best treat was. . .

Were the sugar cookies my niece Maycie made for us for Valentines. :)

It was amazing! I love my life.
Have you been thinking green still?

Until Next Time,

St. Valentine Who?

Please don't mind my Mad-Crazy Hair. My projects tested my Mental State. :)

Valentines Day, personally, I really don't care much for it. I'm not sure where my lack of fondness for this heart felt holiday comes from, but I just don't. I don't distain it in anyway, I just don't see the big deal in it all.
Though, I do have some pink crystal out, a teady bear that has devil horns and a heart cape and a pink colored sensy wax melting in my melter. I did get into the spirit of Valentines Day a tinsy bit. I made gifts for those girlies in my life that I just love, since it is the month of hearts, love and foo foo frilly things.

Here is my list of things I {Heart}
-I {Heart} Microsoft Excel.
-I {Heart} Crafts.
-I {Heart} My Morning Coffee.
-I {Heart} Blogging.
-I {Heart} Cooking/Baking.
-I {Heart} Summer Time.
-I {Heart} Lists.
-I {Heart} Carbohydrates.
-I {Heart} Tape.
-Mostly I {Heart} My Family.

As I said in the spirit of the St. Valentine these are the little tid bits I made for those girlies that I love. Something must have gone hay-wire in my brain; because I used my sewing machine. {Insert Shock and Awe Face Here} It was fun though, and I think I'll be practicing a bit more on it.

Heart Magnets. I'd love to claim this original idea, but I got it from a fellow blogger Here
I did some things different like I put epoxy on the front and wrote on a couple.

These are Heart shaped hot pads. Again I' love to take the credit, but Martha, she's just a craft chic.
These hand towels were quite fun. I'm sure someone has thought of sewing ric rac onto hand towels, so I'm not the first.

My all in all total cost into the 3 hand towels, 4 pot holders, 10 hearts, Paper, Ric Rac and BIas tape is: $12. I had some stuff on hand like the epoxy, magnets, glue and such. Pretty nifty eh? That is my contribution to Valentines Day this year.

**For March, well you will just have to see if you are going to be a lucky one and see what I've got planned. (I've made a goal for each Holiday, wink wink.) Keep checking back over the next 16 days. March 1, I've got a surprise for you all.**

Until Next Time,
Peace & Love

Paper

I have decided that if you put your mind into finding something, you will always find it at the D.I. I love that place. Since Monday I have been searching for paper making kits and they are all so expensive. So then I tried figuring out I could go about making a Deckle and Mold. [I'll explain what they are later] Well that was a lot of wood work for me, which is not up my alley. So I figured I'd use picture frames instead. So I went to the D.I. in search of two 8.5X11 picture frames and a buser's tub. Are you wondering if I found them? Yes, Yes I did. On average the paper kits costed around $30-$60 dollars. I created mine for less than $11. Two picture frames a dollar each. A Sterilite tub for a dollar as well. The most expensive piece to my project was the screen. Which was four dollars. Steal Right? I think so.

So I figured I'd blog about my paper making process, so here we go!

Step 1. Blended paper!

Step 2. Paper pulp

Step 3. This is a Deckle and Mold.

Step 4. Soaking up water

Step 5. Paper!

Then you have your final product! Paper! Its a fun process for me! You can flatten the pieces under a phone book. I made a couple of envelopes to go along with the stationary I made as well!

Until Next Time,
Peace & Love
