Documentaries

Documentaries have consumed my life so far. The two that have stuck out, that I've watched to scare the daylights out of me are: Food Inc. and Super Size Me. If you haven't watched them you should. Its freaky!

Food Inc.:

Tells the story of how our chicken is processed. The average chicken from egg to "processing" age take about 8 months. 98% of the chicken we buy in stores are hormone and steroid injected.
They shoot these poor chickens with all these steroids and age them quickly. So the average chicken from egg to "processing" on steroids age in about 9 weeks. This means that these chickens are enhanced to grow so much faster that their internal organs can't support them, nor do they have the muscle growth to lift up their gaining weight. Therefor these chickens can't walk, they can take about 1 or 2 steps and then they have to sit down. Since these chicken's organs can't sustain their fast growth their organs fail and then we have mass amounts of dead chickens co habituating with our chickens we are about to consume. After our chickens have reached their processing age, they are plucked, organs taken out, de-beaked, de-footed and processed, but not after they are put into an ammonia/bleach bath to kill any bacteria that might be growing on the dead carcasses. Then they are put in those nice pretty blue bags we find in the grocery store.

Nice image huh?

Super Size Me:

Is an interesting study this man does, where he has to eat 3 square meals a day from McDonalds. He is over all in the beginning of the study, a very healthy middle aged man. His BMI is very low for how tall he is, and blood work is great. After about a week into the study, he started feeling worn down and out of energy. Day 21 of the diet, all of the nutritionists he was going to were saying his liver looked like he was an alcoholic. Claiming he was "pickling" his liver, and they have never seen that before with a high fat diet, that it was only ever seen in alcoholics. Interesting? He ended up in 30 days gaining over 34 pounds! Then they had called over 100 random nutritionists in the United States and asked them how often one can/should eat fast food. over 95 of them said you should eat fast food 1 every 3 months if you have too. There was one lady that said, if the world is bombed by a nuclear bomb and it was our only food source, that is the only time you should eat it.

Nasty eh?

I'm utterly grossed out.

I'm glad that I get my clean eating cookbook tomorrow or Saturday! If you haven't checked them out you should, they really are amazing, and you wouldn't think of half the things in there, because you think, eh I can just go get Chicken Nuggets, instead of making my own homemade "turkey" nuggets. That is my new staple. I'm cutting out ground beef from mine and Drayton's diet. I don't think its healthy, but some turkey can be just as bad.

Simple technique, Look at the labels people!

Anywho, I'm off to bed, I'm exhausted from watching this man eat and eat and eat and eat.

Until Next Time,
Peace and Love
