Classic Burger and Fries

I'm kidding really. One of the most favorite dinners in my house is a turkey burger and sweet potato fries! They are a pretty scrumptious and a lot healthier than your average burger and fries! So next time you think about downing a big ole' greasy burger and oil filled fries, think of this recipe.

The Turkey Burger
Needed ingredients:
1 Pound of ground turkey
2-3 cloves minced garlic {garlic powder will suffice}
3 stalks of green onion
2 1/2 tbs Parsley
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper {or to taste}
smidgen of Oregano
2 tbs Flax Seed {optional}
2 tbs Wheat Germ {optional}
Instructions:
Add all the ingredients into a bowl and squish together with your hands. Make sure you mix well, or you might get a burst of parsley, or garlic. Grab a handful of the turkey mixture {Just a bit smaller than a baseball} Toss back and forth between hands until a burger shape appears.
Put in a large frying pan and cook over medium heat until done. {About 10 minutes}

Sweet Potatoe Fries:

Needed ingredients:
2 Sweet Potatoes
1/4 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Parlsey {To Taste}
Salt & Pepper {To Taste}
Garlic Powder {Optional}

Directions: Cut Sweet Potatoes length wise to create a fry. Sweet Potatoes are hard to cut so be careful!. Lay flat out on a pan and drizzle olive oil over the top. Move potatoes around to cover. Add Parsley, Salt, Pepper and Garlic Powder to taste. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes. {I turn mine over 10 minutes into it and add more parsley and salt} When they get close to being done, I turn the broiler on to make them a bit crispy!
and Vuala! They're done!

Tips:
-Turkey is a very lean meat, especially ground turkey. If you are looking for turkey as a healthier choice rather than beef, great! Turkey is only a healthier choice if its more than 97% lean; if you use something that is less than 97% you might as well use beef.
-Since turkey is lean, it is hard to grill and easily can fall apart. Best option is to fry them. The 3% that is fat is what you can use as your cooking agent.
-Turkey is a very plain mean, so whenever cooking with it you need to use a lot of flavor. With that, all the above ingredients the most important is salt, too little salt and they can taste bland.

Enjoy!

Until Next Time,
Peace & Love
